Hi, my name is DONNA YARISH.
When I was in second grade, I first found out that I liked abstracts. They were exhilarating. I still remember my first one. After working in the corporate world for many years, a change presented an opportunity to rediscover my passion – using color through artistic media to express my thoughts and feelings.
I have studied abstract color with Edward Ramsburg from The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center in Frederick, MD. I am also a member of the Frederick County Art Association, Art Council, Carroll County Arts Council, Carroll County Artists Guild and many more.
I am inspired by artist Joan Mitchell (1926-1922). Mitchell received a BFA from the Art Institute of Chicago. By the 1950s, she was a major voice in the Abstract Expressionism movement of the 1950s. She was a colorist focusing on landscapes and other subjects in nature. She moved to Greenwich Village and was influenced by such artists there as Franz Kline, Willem de Kooning and John Asbury. Much of Mitchell's work is large, a fact which is currently influencing the increasing size of my own work. The larger the better, I always say.
Locally, I have exhibited or am currently exhibiting at Eclecticity in Westminster, MD, Carroll County Arts Council, Carroll County Courthouse and Birdie's, a local coffee house.
